Our approach

We make long term commitments to partner local organisations, supporting them to develop into stronger more effective and efficient organisations, as well as providing training and technical support on a range of children’s issues.

ChildHope and our partners are committed to upholding children’s right to life, survival and development.  We believe in:
  • Protection – ensuring children are protected within organisations, communities, institutions and society. Read more.
  • Child participation – enabling children to develop resilience to adversity, to make their voices heard and to make informed choices about their lives.
  • Best interests of the child – ensuring that this is paramount in the development and implementation of all programmes, research and campaigns.
  • Sustainability – assisting organisations to work towards their own long-term financial sustainability and influencing government to allocate sufficient resources to child rights work
  • Advocacy – for policy change and improved policy implementation at local, national and international levels so that children can access justice and their right to a life free from violence and discrimination.
  • Community strengthening  – working in partnership with children, their families and communities to determine the best and most sustainable ways to protect children from abuse and exploitation and to support orphans and vulnerable children affected by HIV and AIDS.
  • Equality of opportunities – working to ensure that girls and boys from all backgrounds and different class, ethnic and social groups gain a voice and access programmes and services.
  • Learning and creativity – learning from children, our partners and others and seeking creativity in everything we do.

We have an organisational commitment to learning within ChildHope, with partners, and with other agencies. Central to our approach is:

  • enabling organisations to share good practice
  • ensuring time for reflection
  • systematic recording and sharing of learning and impact
  • supporting partners to reflect and share learning
  • facilitating opportunities for learning exchange

ChildHope is committed to good governance, and accountability to our supporters, our partners and our beneficiaries. We seek to promote these values in our partnerships.
