June 12th marks the celebration of the annual World Day against Child Labour, an event launched in 2002 by the International Labour Organisation to help raise awareness around the issue of child labour and combat its prevalence around the world.

Celebrate Mother’s Day
On this Mother’s Day we ask that you spare a thought for the millions of unsung mothers worldwide that die during childbirth, suffer violence at the hands of a partner, or are forced into prostitution. That is why ChildHope works to not only protect children but also to support their mothers to realise their rights. For example our work in Sierra Leone; which since 2004 has helped over 500 young girls, who are mothers, to realise their rights both as mothers and as girls.

Celebrating two birthdays and 20 years of promoting children’s rights
1989 was an important year for children. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child was adopted by the UN General Assembly on 20th November of that year. It is the most widely signed treaty in the world but it is also, arguably, the most poorly implemented international agreement.
