Projects in Asia
Introduction to the issues
South Asia is a complex and diverse region. The region is rich in culture, creativity and social welfare traditions, but afflicted by socio-economic disparities, population growth, urban migration, political instability and civil strife. Striking economic development has left the majority behind: human development indicators remain low; millions live below the poverty line in squalid urban slums; millions more eke a hand to mouth living from the land, aggravated by periodic flooding.
For millions of girls and boys, growing up in this context is fraught with risk. Working through local partners, ChildHope is tackling some of the most acute child protection issues these children face:
Harnessing the region's creativity and social welfare traditions, children's lives are being transformed as projects successfully reduce children's vulnerability, increase children's resilience and strengthen the capacity of parents, communities and government to protect girls and boys.
