ChildHope: An overview

  • ChildHope was established in 1989 in order to address the problem of vulnerable children having to live and work on the streets of Africa, Asia and South America.
  • ChildHope projects aim to tackle a range of issues which effect children, such as poverty, lack of education, homelessness, child prostitution, child labour and the destructive impact of HIV/AIDS.
  • We seek to promote the rights of children and reduce child abuse and exploitation.
  • Tackling the underlying causes of poverty and maltreatment is an important aspect of ChildHope’s work
  • ChildHope is currently working with local NGOs in India, Bangladesh, Kenya, The Gambia, Tanzania, Peru, Ethiopia, Brazil, Sierra Leone, South Africa and Uganda.
  • ChildHope receives grants from institutional donors including Comic Relief, Big Lottery and DFID as well as trusts, foundations, corporations and many generous individuals.
  • In 2010 our income was £1,770,332 and our expenditure was £1,768,722.
By keeping administrative and operational costs to a minimum, ChildHope are able to ensure that 89% of our expenditure goes towards support for and grants to projects supporting children in Africa, Asia and South America.
