A fun-filled children's comedy nightWhat could be more inspiring than a group of UK school children organising an event to help give children worldwide the chance of a brighter future? On 9th February, the ChildHope team were fortunate to attend a second fundraising event organised by an inspirational group of children doing just that.
Raising a smile and funds for ChildHopeAfter the success of their fantastic family Puzzle Day in February 2012, Charlotte, Annabel, Emma, Maya, Roma and Kiran decided they didn't want the fundraising to end there. So building on last year's achievements they organised a fun filled comedy evening for their second event - with a little help from their parents too. Over 140 people joined in the entertainment at Nascot Wood Recital Hall. They were treated to performances from comic entertainers A F Harrold and Sarah Bennetto. There were tasty treats and a raffle. The highlight of the evening for many was the children's open mic session where we saw some comic stars in the making - move over Michael Macintyre!
Ensuring children have a say in how their lives can change for the betterActively involving children in transforming their own futures is a vital aspect of ChildHope's work. So we really are thrilled and touched by the children's continued dedication to helping other children around the world and their hard work putting together this event. Thanks to their incredible efforts they have raised a fantastic £1,500 - which really will ensure many more children around the world have the safe and happy childhood they deserve!
- £500 could pay for an education for a year, including school fees and materials, for 16 street and working children in India.
- £1,000 could provide educational and emotional support to prepare 40 children in Kenya currently working on dumpsite collecting rubbish to go back to school, and stay there.
