UN International Youth Day 2017
This year’s international Youth Day is celebrating young people’s contributions to conflict prevention and transformation, as well as inclusion, social justice and sustainable peace. This is directly linked to the 2030 sustainable development agenda, in particular Goal 16 which aims to ensure ‘responsive, inclusive, participatory and representative decision-making at all levels.’
Young people can be powerful agents for change, if given the opportunity. We at Childhope promote this with and through all our partners, from Shakti Samuha in Nepal who are giving young people a platform to advocate for their rights to the government and affect policy change to build stronger protection mechanism to prevent human trafficking, to CHADET in Ethiopia who are empowering girls through girl’s committees where they can raise, discuss and refer issues of concern to them.
