We are pleased to announce that ChildHope will be starting a new four-year project in Peru aimed at eradicating the worst forms of child labour and enabling children to return to education.
Through the project we aim to protect 2,860 boys and girls from abusive and perilous forms of child labour. The project will improve access to education and provide life-skills and vocational training to child labourers in three areas of Peru: the coast (Lima), the highlands (Cusco) and the jungle (San Martin).
The project will promote the rights of child labourers engaged in dangerous work or at risk of abuse and exploitation, including girl domestic workers and children living in poor or rural communities. As a result of the project, children will be better protected from exploitative work by educating them about their rights and by sensitizing families, communities, teachers, employers and authorities to change attitudes towards child labour and take action to confront the problem.
