Girls' Movement in Ethiopia

ChildHope is setting up a movement for girls across the 77 schools in Ethiopia. It seeks to catalyse changes, over time in the belief held by parents and boys that these time-consuming domestic chores should be done by only girls.

Deadly mudslide hits Sierra Leone

Over 400 people have died and another 600 are missing after the devastating mudslide in Freetown, Sierra Leone on 14th August. Thousands of people, including children, who are mourning the loss of loved ones, are without food, water and shelter.

Youth Day 2017

This year’s international Youth Day is celebrating young people’s contributions to conflict prevention and transformation, as well as inclusion, social justice and sustainable peace. This is directly linked to the 2030 sustainable development agenda, in particular Goal 16 which aims to ensure ‘responsive, inclusive, participatory and representative decision-making at all levels.’

World Day Against Child Labour 2017

Almost a third human trafficking victims worldwide are children according to the Global Report on Trafficking in Persons released in December 2016 by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), around 21 million people are victims of forced labour globally, and of these, a significant number are also trafficking victims.
